A new beginning…….
We received
confirmation that on June 30, 2002 St. Mary Protectress Parish in Phoenix,
Arizona held and Extraordinary Parish Meeting and voted unanimously to leave
the jurisdiction of UOC-USA and join the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan
Patriarchate under
the jurisdiction of His Holiness Filaret, Patriarch of Kyiv and All
Rus-Ukraine.
On August 11, 2002,
St. Mary parish hosted the visit of Bishop Stephan (Bilak) and the Very
Rev. Protopresbyter, Stephan Posakiwsky and along with St. Mary parish priest
Rev. Ivan Kondrasevich celebrated this joyous occasion. Below is the text of
the letter sent to Archbishop Antony informing him of their decision.

Your Grace,
Our parish has patiently
waited for the past five years for some sign of a change of heart on the part
of the Church Administration in Bound Brook in regards to the infamous points
of agreement under which our hierarchy voluntarily became bishops and priests
of the Ecumenical Throne, subject to its discipline and order. Our hierarchs
gave up our autocephaly and subordinated us under a foreign ruler in Turkey,
knowing that our Ukrainian history has been bathed in Ukrainian blood and tears
in a continuing struggle for independence. We believe that the Ukrainian
Orthodox Church USA located in Bound Brook, NJ is no longer part of the
historic Ukrainian Orthodox Church as our forefathers established it in the
United States in the 1920s as an integral part of the worldwide Autocephalous
Ukrainian Orthodox Church based in Kiev, Ukraine in 1921 and again in Kiev in
1990 under Patriarch Mstyslav I after Ukraine's declaration of independence.
However, instead of a change of heart we have seen unauthorized legal actions
and autocratic authority from the Church administration in Bound Brook.
We wish to inform
you that on June 30th our parish held a Special General Parishioners Meeting.
At this meeting the parishioners decided we no longer wish to be under the
omophor of a foreign jurisdiction and at the same time under the jurisdiction
of Metropolitan Constantine, Bishop of Eirenopolois, Antony, Archbishop of
Hieropolis and Vsevolod (Pangratios), Archbishop of Scopelos, who are bishops
of the Church of Constantinople.
Therefore, taking into account these changes in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church –
USA our parish members voted unanimously and without an abstention to leave the
Ukrainian Orthodox Church-USA and it’s jurisdiction and join with the Ukrainian
Orthodox Church - Kyivan Patriarchate under the jurisdiction of His
Holiness Filaret, Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine.
As of today we have been accepted and are under the jurisdiction of The
Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarch, His Holiness Filaret, Patriarch of
Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine.
We wish you well
in your new see. However, we choose to remain true and loyal to the Church of
our forefathers honoring all their sacrifices and perseverance through the
Great Famine, World War II and the decimating purges after the War. We glorify
The Almighty and the Divine Grace shed upon us in 1990 that enabled our
Metropolitan Mstyslav to return to our homeland and assume the mantle of
Patriarch of our once again resurrected Mother Church in Kiev.

До Антонія, Архиєпископа Гієрапільського,
Високопреосвященний Владико!
Наша парафія, з терпеливістю, чекала 5 років на показ щирого роздумання з боку Церковної Адміністрації в Баунд Бруку відносно ганебних Пунктів Згоди під якими наші ієрархи добровільно стали єпископами і священиками Вселенського Престолу, підпорядковуючи під його дисципліну і порядок. Наші ієрархи здали нашу автокефальність і підпорядкували нас під чужого зверхника в Турції знаючи що наша Українська історія облита кровю і сльозами в боротбі за незалежність. Ми віримо що УПЦ в США яка знаходиться в Баунд Бруку, тепер і в дальшому не є частиною історичної Української Православної Церкви яку заснували наші предки в США в 1920-х роках як частиною світової Автокефальної Української Православної Церкви в Києві в 1921 р. і знов в Києві в 1990 р. під Патріархом Мстиславом І після Українського проголошення незалежности. Навпаки, замість щирого роздумання, ми бачимо незаконні судові акції і отократний авторитет з боку Церковної Адміністрації в Баунд Бруку.

Беручи до

зміни в

Церкві в США,
наша парафія
проголосувала,
одноголосно
і без жодного
стримання,
залишити
Українську
Православну
Церкву в США
і Її юрисдикцію
і злучитись з
Українською

Церквою–Київського
Патріархату
під юрисдикцію
Святішого
Філарета,
Патріарха Києва
і всієї
Русь-України.
З сьогоднішньої дати ми були прийняті і підпорядковані юрисдикції Українській Православній Церкві – Київського Патріархату, Його Святість Філарет, Патріарх Києва і всієї Русь-України.
Ми зичим вам добра у вашій новій дієцезії. Проте, ми бажаєм бути вірним до Церкви наших предків шануючи всі їхні жертви і терпеливості в продовж Великого Голодомору, Другої Світової Війни, репресії і погроми після війни. Ми славим все Вищого за послання Святого Духа на нас в 1990 р. що дало можливість нашому Митрополиту Мстиславу вернутись на батьківщину і прийняти Патріарший титул нашої возкреслої Матері-Церкви в Києві.
